She had died. Well that put a damper on her day. She had woke up on the ground, in front of a gate. It was cold and dark here, like something out of a nightmare. She figured death would be different, seeing as she figured hell to be hot, from all the fire. And this couldn't be heaven, since it was dark and she could hear distant screams. That's when she remembered it, the sacrifice of blood she had given to become a brotherhood assassin. This must be the final step to it, then there was a chance to go back to living. She knew the trials would be as bad as the training, she was about to face every sin she had ever committed. She looked around and an outfit hung in the air, it was an ancient brotherhood assassin outfit, white instead of black or a dark color. She quickly stripped and slipped into it, happily fixing the wrist blades, she pulled the hood down looking around. She saw a man floating by the gate she slipped towards him. “Adianna.” She looked at him.
“Male I don't know.” she answered calmly.
“I am Vincent.”
“Hello Vincent.”
“You've died...but fate is kind and decided you get a second chance, this is a chance to absolve all your sins and purify your soul, Assassin. Use this chance wisely, use your training to prove that you deserve life.”
“Oh god this is some saw shit...I've already played this--”
“ASSASSIN.” Vincent yelled causing Adi to get quiet.
“Sorry...yes...absolve my sins.” she said shifting.
“With each level of hell, you will forget more and more of your life, do not fear assassin this is normal. If you get through all nine levels of hell, and defeat Lucifer, then fate will let you return...as a new person, same body, same name...but a clean slate. You will remember nothing of your life before.”
“Wait, you mean I won't remember Geo, Mel, my daughter? No one?”
“No...They were all part of you Sin life, if you want to return to life, Fate maybe kind and let your paths cross again.”
“T-That's not fair....”
“Do you want to have a shot at life.”
“Y-Yes.” she sighed, and the gates opened.
“I'll guide you...fear not Assassin...I have faith in you...God is kind, and has smiled on you. Leaving artifacts that can help you in your quest through hell...Go now.” Vincent disappeared.
Adi was left alone, she felt tears brimming up. “I love you guys...I'm going to come back for you...but please don't be mad I forgot you.” She offered to the empty air as if the other's could hear her. Adi walked through the opened gates and once she was through they closed. After a while of walking she made it to the shores of Hell. The screaming and moaning for the damned souls caused her to shift. Her eyes looking around. Her eyes falling on great ferry of Charon She shifted again and walked towards it, passed the line of damned souls, her eyes catching on each blacked face. “Help me.” one screamed trying to catch on her, “Please I don't want to be damned.” She pouted and moved catching the genderless soul shoving her blade into it's chest and began a light prayer she had learned in the Brotherhood. It exploded in a white light, which moved moving into her own chest making her blade glow before a white line embedded on her blade. This couldn't be happening? Could it? Weirder things had happened. She hadn't believed in god, so why did he give her a second chance?
She continued on her way, making it to the front of the line. “no, soul, you are not a damned soul, I cannot let you ride.” the voice was loud and booming.
She froze looking for it, the ship was talking? Fantastic. “Charon?” popular to contrary belief, Adi knew a lot about all this sort of thing, well the afterlife, and heaven and Hell, and the people in them, she would never say it out loud though. “Great Charon, I am the Assassin, Nobody, Adianna. I have to get to the other side and face Lucifer.”
“No, Soul. No soul like you has ever defeated Lucifer, what makes you think you can.”
“Because I have too.”
“No.” She wouldn't take that as an answer, she suddenly moved leaping and catching onto on of the boat's holes, she began climbing it, Charon screaming for her to stop and trying to swat her off, she was persistent catching onto the nets pulling herself up that way. She tried to think of this as her training. She made it to the top and climbed over. She walked over to Charon's head. “Go.” she said calmly. “No soul.” She growled starting to say the prayer she knew and thrusted her blade into it's head. It suddenly moved at the warning, she took her blade out and smirked. The sail was long and quite, save the screams and moans, but Adi found she could ignore them if she tried hard enough. Once the boat stopped she slid down using the same method she climbed it. And found herself in limbo, she shivered a bit. This was all insane, she tried to think back on how she died. Rose...it was Rose...but the more she thought about it the harder it was to remember details, as she walked, the memory of her killer and death slipped and she could no longer remember. She found her way through a twisting hallway, coming face to face with The judge of the damned.
“King Minos, please I need to find Lucifer.” she said calmly, the man was huge and serpent like. His tail curled around her picking her up bringing her closer. “You are not worthy to move on to hell, you will be thrown into the abyss.” His voice dark and almost a hiss. Well Adi could not have that could she? She stuck her blades in his tail as he tried to release her, she moved flipping up on his tail and ran at him, flipping again as he tried to flail her off of him. She got to his face his tongue tried to wrap around her but in a slicing motion his tongue fell to the ground with a thud sound. Everything was so big in hell, and she was so tiny, she supposed that's how they wanted the souls to feel. She growled a bit as she moved jamming her blades into his eyes. Before flipping back landing in a crouch on the ground as the judge flailed and yelled in pain, once he moved away from the gate she slipped passed him, continuing on her way.
It felt like eternity hell it could have been for all she knew. She tried to think of what the others were doing, she hopped they weren't mourning over her, she would hate for them to be crying over her death. It's not like it could have been avoided, after all it was just her time. But a sudden calm washed over her and she thought of Mel. She shook her head a little looking around, the sound of sexual moans filled her ears, and a creature slipped towards her taking the form of Joker, Adi shifted. Watching it as it moved towards her, it whispered her full name 'Adianna.' she shivered. “No..You aren't real...” she growled at it. The Demon Mel moved towards her, whispering things that Adi had wanted to hear a long time ago, but she shook it off. “YOU Aren't really Mel...stop demon.” she tried to sound confident of herself, but it caught her in an odd hold, holding her arms so she couldn't move her blades. It got closer to her neck, she shivered. “No.” she said strongly. No, this wasn't okay, she suddenly moved catching the Demon in it's side, causing it to let her go. She moved to put distance.
“Adianna, you've been bad.” The Demon used Mel's Joker voice, his scarey clown voice.
“No Demon.” She said as he tackled her, well he was strong she'd give him that. He tried to bite at her throat but she shoved her blade up through it's jaw. It shoved her off and held it's Jaw.
“Adi.” it's voice sounding hurt. “It's me Joker...why would you hurt me...You loved me.”
“No Demon, I never loved /you/. And I got over him a while ago, because he's with Geo, and I'm okay with that.” she growled and leaped at him again, she pinned him to the ground.
“NO.” He growled trying to thrash, but she didn't let go, She started to say the prayer again. “Adi don't do this..it's me Mel, you'll kill me.”
“YOU ARE NOT JOKER.” She growled as she thrusted her blades into his chest, it exploded in black smoke, before another white light showed up on her blades. Adi sat on the ground shaking, Mel...Mel? The memory started slipping from her memory. “NO PLEASE!” She cried out, but it was to late, another odd calm washed over her, as two more demon's appeared, taking the Appearance of Lenore's father and Zach. “No.” She growled, She wasted no time dispatching these two demons, they wouldn't trick her again. Once two more white lines appeared she rushed away from the area, her legs taking her as far as they could before she stopped to breath.
She waited for a while before walking again, she came to an area that started to morph, taking shape of some place she knew, a place she was employed. The Iceberg Lounge, the door opened and she walked in, looking around, it looked exactly like the lounge. Only it was oddly quiet, she moved towards the bar where a shot was sitting, she looked at it. She sighed before picking it smelling it before she downed it, before she knew it she blacked out, waking up to the sound of glasses clanking and talking. She picked her head off of the bar and looked around. “it was a dream?” she asked out loud looking around.
“Oh would you look who’s back, the worst assassin in Gotham. What took you so long? Got a little tied up in your emotions? Which reminds me, Jordie sure did suffer. Lenore, she did too. Amazing what greed will make people do, life insurance policies cash out nicely. Lenore was more fun though, she lasted longer than Jordan did. It worked out nicely that you died, I even got to cash in on a multi-million dollar insurance policy for you…” She heard she turned and looked down a bit seeing Oz she cocked an eyebrow.
“Excuse me?” she said standing. She suddenly got a knife to the side. Oh god the pain was searing, like the knife was on fire. She screamed a bit and leaped back, onto the bar's top.
“You are a pathetic excuse.” He smirked. “and your family suffered at my expense.”
Adi leap at him, feeling the searing pain in her side from being stabbed again. She stabbed back, muttering the prayer. But a slice across the face stopped her, the bar inhabitants started to fight back. She stood and started to start absolving the other demon's first, flipping back every time Oz got close. Once the other demons were dead she went back at Oz. A few more stabs at him before finally being able to Absolve him. The false Iceberg Lounge, faded leaving that barren landscape.
Once again she waited for the white lines to show up on her blades, at this rate her blades would be made of the white light. Adi made her way through a few more circles, forgetting those who showed up in them, she made it through the river styx, where The ones consumed with rage fight on the surface and the slothful/ones who are lazy lie beneath the water. She beasted it through Heretics, when it came to violence and it's three inner circles, she almost died twice, and she found a silver knife cross, she secured it on her person and got through two more circles, she had to be close to Lucifer now, shouldn't she?
She stepped foot into a new area and froze looking to the person in the middle of the room. “Geo?” She called and rushed towards the woman, it wasn't so far off, Geo being a demon and all that, her being there made sense.
“Adi, I came back for you. I couldn’t allow for you to die like this.”
“Geo~ I knew you wouldn't!” She smiled and made it to where there was a little space between them.
“After all, I want the pleasure of that myself~” Adi was suddenly tackled, looking up to her friend she realized it was Reaper.
“Stop!” Adi yelled flailing a bit as she tried to get away from Reaper, Reaper's mouth opening to close around Adi's throat.
Reaper leaned her head over into Adi's neck taking in the scent. "Oh my, such a magnificent scent. You'll be a tasty meal~" the demon cooed as she tilted her head back maneuvering her jaw plates into place. Her nails dug deeply into Adi's skin. "So tasty~" she repeated.
Adi wiggled under the Demon, Adi moved her knees under so they were pressing up against the woman's stomach before she tried to shove her off. "No...not this time hun~" she smirked.
The demon was sent back rather easily with the lift off. She did a back flip in the air and landed firmly on her feet. "Oh come now, you know there's no getting passed me. There isn't a cross around and no holy water to distract me." she said as she motioned her arms around the layer of Hell. "You're in my zone, my world, I have the advantage~" she hissed as she her barbs came out from her palms, like a set of daggers.
A cross? she had found one earlier, but she wouldn't let the Demon know that. "Are you so sure...sure Hell is your zone, but I am notorious for taking over enemy territory, do you know who I am?" she growled a bit.
"Oh but of course, I've been waiting for you Adianna. See, doppelgangers are amazing things. You'd normally imagine them to be complete opposites of their counterparts, but it's different with us. It doesn't matter our natural's nature, we get worse." She said as her eyes dilated and the rest of her spikes surfaced. These barbs were clear, almost like crystal.
"Oh I'm flattered." she growled as she stood back up, and flicked her wrists so the blades that were bathed in the white light came out. She hoped that she would have enough strength to beat this demon alone, after all after all the souls she absolved the white light got brighter, so that was a good sign right? She felt odd trying to absolve her sins, but if God wanted to give her a chance at life again, who was she to say no.
the Reaper doppleganger flipped the daggers in her hands into the star shaped pattern. It was off this time though, now it was a 6 pointed star. Adi dodged again, trying to wiggle out of the way, she took off in a run and jump at the woman, her wrist knives crossed in an about to slice motion. Reaper had her blades going in her pattern, being sure to try and nick Adi. Once Adi went after her, the speed she was going at had increased. Adi's blades were cutting into her skin, which in turn only surfaced more spikes as she was starting to bleed out. Adi felt a few of her blades nick into her, "You understand that I /have/ to see Lucifer right? That I /have/ to go back." she growled as she moved to cut at Reaper again.
"There is no such thing has /have/, only /want/. Unfortunately, my "normal" counterpart is being much to humorous to watch when she's this far lapsed." The demon hissed as with a wave of her hands, the image of Geo sending knives through her arms came up in a haze of smoke in front of Adi. "I feed on her pain, it's what gives me my power down here..."" she replied as she made a quick move behind Adi and raised her leg, sending a kick in her direction. Adi growled but it was stopped by a kick she felt her self being forced sideways and to the ground, oh god.
"Such an odd thing, wanting to go back even knowing your mind will be wiped clean. Tell me, how do you think your loved ones will feel when they see you waltzing around without any acknowledgment of who they are." she aid as she waltzed over to where Adi had landed and knelled down frog style in front of Adi, taking her face in one hand.
"Because they were my reason for living, I don't expect you to understand that, even though my mind will be wiped, if they find me they will have me again...and that's a better option then being dead." She said not flinching at the touch. "Tell me Reaper, ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?" she said calmly.
"Actually I have." she said with a smirk. "Why do you ask?" she asked as her mouth started to expand preparing for a bite.
In a swift movement she pulled the Cross knife out of her outfit and thrusted upwards with it, aiming for Reaper's chest. "Because I'm the worst kinda devil honey." she purred to Reaper.
Reaper flinched a moment as the cross went into her chest. Her grip on Adi's face tightened for a moment. "You won't be able to make it all the way. Not with what lies ahead..." she trailed off as she began to twitch. Her grip released as she fell backward onto the ground, frantically clawing at the cross.
Adi smiled a bit and stood back up. "We'll see, stranger things have happened." She said kicking the cross further in she started to say the brotherhood prayer and the blades on her wrists started to glow a bit more.
Reaper gave up a cough, bringing up black bile. She gave a light laugh. "We will see..." she said with a laugh as she felt herself being torn apart. "Let's hope your friends see it the way you do~"
"I know they will, goodbye sweet demon." she said and thrusted the glowing blades in with the cross.
And the demon was absolved.
After the fight with the Demon, she felt mildly better. She thought back to Geo and pouted when that memory started fading too, she looked back over to the cross and picked it up, she had to get home, she wanted her memories back, but she knew that wouldn't happen. The memories she had of them all together started to blur and she couldn't remember who people were. It quickly began to sadden her again as she walked, after a while she got passed the fraud layer of hell and continued on her way.
The last circle of hell, she looked around and cringed a bit. In a sudden movement she was face down on the ground her arms pinned behind her back. “Hello...mummy~” A darker version of Lenore's voice whispered into her ear, she felt something go through her body, something sharp, and she was pinned to the ground. The sword managed to go through both of her hands just passed her spine and missed major organs. Adi lay there on the ground in searing pain again.
“You aren't my daughter bitch.” She growled. She felt the Demon move the Sword around in a teasing manner.
“Might as well be...you will never beat me...you will be trapped here thinking about what could have been, and you will become a lost soul. Lucifer has no time for you right now, and you will do well to honor that.” The Demon Lenore growled. Adi growled and waited until the Demon started rambling on not facing her. She slowly started to force herself up, she she forced her hands up starting to wiggle the blade free form the ground beneath her. Once it was loose enough she snarled and stood pulling it out and catching it in one hand. In a single movement the demon was beheaded and it's body curling in black smoke. “LUCIFER I CALL TO YOU NOW. I ADIANNA CHALLENGE YOU!” Her voice seemed to carry through out the entire underworld, she felt the ground start to shake as she grasped at her body a bit, it hurt but right now she was on a mission. A silent prayer escaped her lips as she waited for Lucifer to show up.
From deep within the shadows, a loud audible huff could be heard. Lucifer stood up slowly and started to walk toward the small circle of light where Adianna stood. With each step, his hoofs made a clicking sound until he was looking down upon Adi.
"How dare you awaken me from my slumber..." he said as he glared down to Adi.
Adi kept a pokerface as she turned to look at Lucifer. "I have descended Hell to meet you, it's to my understanding if I beat all the levels of hell I would be able to return to the land of the living. Well I have beaten all the levels of hell, now let me go back to the above." she said strongly.
A smile spread across his face as he gave a snicker. "It's not /that/ simple my dear." he said as he stepped closer to her. "In order for you to go back, you'll need to have a real dance with the devil” he said as he pulled the scythe from his back.
Adi gave an visible shiver and moved "Shall we tango than Lucie?" She smirked, well if she was fucked she might as well go out with a bang, but she was so close she could feel it.
"Ladies first~" he smirked as he readied himself. She wouldn't need to kill him, just prove she deserved the second chance. Now would be the time to see if she had that survival piece of the human puzzle.
Adi smiled. "Oh such a gentleman." she cooed to Lucifer, in a sudden movement she leaped at him trying to use his scythe as leverage to flip and catch him from behind.
Lucifer gave a light chuckle as she went to use the scythe against himself. The moment she touched it, he moved it like a baseball bat, stepping out of the way of her attempt to catch him.
Adi felt the scythe be swung like a baseball bat and she stumbled to catch herself she hit the ground and was back up trying a different tactic. She rushed at him and leaped the last second to throw a kick at him.
Lucie was pushed back a few steps when Adianna's foot came into contact with his chest. He gave a light smirk as he spun the scythe in his hand for a moment before taking a swing at her.
Adi flipped back a second to late as the scythe scrapped across her. She flipped again looking at Lucie. "Aw, honey, is that all, I should have you know I've done worse in bed.~" She gave a wink and moved to throw another kick at him.
“Such a shame you're trying to go back to the human world, could have ruled as the queen down here with that spunk." he said as he grabbed a hold of her leg and twirled a moment before releasing her with extra speed and strength, aiming toward a pillar
She was thrown at a pillar and she felt herself crash through it. She groaned lightly, and laid there for a second or two before slowly getting to a crouch position. "Well you sure know how to treat a gal." She said with a smirk. "Who knows maybe I'll come back and seduce ya." she said and suddenly moved, she felt something shift in her back, but she was already dead what did she care, its not like it hurt terribly, though it did sting a bit.
"Feisty little thing aren't we. Let's go now, stop wasting my time." he said with a smirk as he took into a charge with the scythe up.
“Oh but babe, you have all the time in the world, it's not like your going anywhere." she smirked and moved jumping at him when he got close enough flipping over him she aimed a kick at the back of his head.
Lucifer stopped his movement after getting the kick to the head. He rubbed the back of his head lightly. "Yes, well, I have an appointment in five minutes, punishment for Hitler. He'll be getting a pineapple up the ass. Can't keep my appointments waiting~" he said as he turned around to charge Adi again.
“Oh not even for me? And here I thought we were having a good time.” she moved jumping flicking her wrists as the white spirit charged blades came back out she tried to wrap around him with her legs as her arms went to threaten. She wasn't interested in killing him, but if that's what it took.
Lucifer stopped his movements the moment her legs were wrapped around him and the blades were at his neck. He narrowed his eyes on her. "Very well. You may go back." he said simply as he kept eye contact.
"No tricks...." She warned pressing the blades a bit.
"No tricks, you've forgotten everything anyway, you can't very well do any real harm." he replied with a smirk. "Not bad. You're fairly well trained, for a human." he added.
“Yeah well to bad I won't remember all this, I could have said I beat the Devil...and flirted with him.” She said letting go and flipping back looking at him. “Well it's been fun, maybe when I'm ready to die we can do this again sometime." she winked and laughed a bit.
"Guarantee I await your return. Now if you'll excuse me, I have Hitler to attend to~" He said calmly as he gave a snap of his fingers. "One day, you may be the queen of the damned...." he trailed off as he watched her.
Things went black for Adi, and everything seemed to disappear, new memories flooded her mind, she knew her name was Adianna Lynn Baudelaire, and she just moved to Gotham from another town, but she couldn't remember what town.
The next thing she remembered was waking up in a little apartment, she dragged herself to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. “God Adianna, what did you get yourself into last night...sure it's a new city and all that, but fuck.” She groaned at her mirror self before she stripped and got dressed in a short black dress and a pair of high heels, it was time to go find a Job, but maybe a drink...she remembered somewhere called the Iceberg Lounge, so she made her way there, once there she slipped towards the bar.
